Class 5A, No. 4 Albertville shut out Catholic of Huntsville 2-0 in varsity boys soccer action Feb. 21.

Catholic is ranked No. 9 in the Class 4A-1A boys poll.

Donte Spurgeon scored on a follow-up of a shot by Orlando Argote, giving the Aggies a 1-0 lead at the half.

Catholic’s keeper tipped Jesus Galacia’s cross wide, and Victor Franco was able to tap the ball into the open net for Albertville’s other goal.

Andrew Charles played goalie because of an injury to Albertville’s starting goalie Cody Dunsmore.

Dunsmore was kicked in the face in the Feb. 19 Cullman match and suffered a sprain jaw.

Charles, a starting middle defender, pitched the shutout, saving four shots on goal and playing several shots out of the area with his feet.
